Our spring-fed pond has almost run dry. We are preparing as best we can for the second Summer 2021 heat wave. The last one, in late June, shattered records in the Pacific Northwest, with temperatures soaring beyond 100 degrees Fahrenheit for three days. Parts of the afternoon reached 110. This time the forecasts don't look as bad as that, but we don't want to take chances. The last heat wave led to stressors on our chickens; we lost the two most vulnerable, Jean Grey and Ororo. We anticipate taking the chickens back indoors for the AC. We have bought another AC unit since June. Fingers crossed.
